{"id":10,"date":"2013-05-01T12:58:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T12:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/silks.csb.gov.in\/aizawl\/?page_id=10"},"modified":"2023-02-09T11:25:06","modified_gmt":"2023-02-09T11:25:06","slug":"eri-food-plant-production-technology","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/silks.csb.gov.in\/sundargarh\/eri-food-plant-production-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Eri Food Plant Production Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\" width:760px; height:650px; overflow: auto; margin:0px; padding: 0px 15px 0px 15px;\">\n<h1 align=\"center\">Silkworm Food Plant Production Technology<\/h1>\n<h3>Eri food plant production technology<\/h3>\n<h5>Castor (Richinus communis)<\/h5>\n<p>Land Selection: Select sloppy well drained and fertile land, avoid water logged land.<br \/>\n  Season: March- April and September- October. <br \/>\n  Soil: Both acidic and alkaline soils are suitable.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" align=\"right\" alt=\"Silks\" src=\"https:\/\/silks.csb.gov.in\/ballia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/mcpt8.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"254\"><\/p>\n<h5>Land preparation<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li> Plough 2-3 times to a depth of 20-25 cm and level it.<\/li>\n<li> Make 25cm x 25cm x 25cm pit at 1m x 1m spacing.<\/li>\n<li> Apply 1Kg FYM (well decomposed cow dung) to each pit and mix thoroughly with the soil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Seed treatment and sowings:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li> Select matured seeds.<\/li>\n<li> Treat the seeds with thiram or Capton @ 3 g\/kg or Bavistin @ 2\/kg seed to prevent fungal attack.<\/li>\n<li> Sow 2-3 seeds per pit at a depth of 2.5-3.0 cm and irrigate if there is no rain, especially during dry season.<\/li>\n<li> Germination takes places usually within 7-10 days.<\/li>\n<li> Keep only one healthy seeding in each pit after 15 days of germination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Cultural operations<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply NPK@ 60:40:20 kg\/ha as 1st dose after one month of germination at the base of the plants by making rings.<\/li>\n<li>After 3 months, 30 kg N\/ha and 1 kg FYM\/plant should be applied for vigorous growth and yield.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out hoeing and weeding whenever necessary (3-4 times in a year).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Leaf harvest<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Make the 1st leaf harvest after 3 month of plantation.<\/li>\n<li>Make 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th harvest after one month of preceding harvest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Source:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>1. Directory of Sericulture Technology 2008, Karnataka State Sericulture Research and Development Institute,Bangalore- 560 062.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Kesseru (Heteropanax fragrans)<\/h3>\n<h5>Nursery raising<\/h5>\n<p> <strong>Land selection:<\/strong>select well drained plain or sloppy land.<br \/>\n <strong>Season:<\/strong> February-March.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Silks\" src=\"https:\/\/silks.csb.gov.in\/ballia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/Kesseru.jpg\" width=\"253\" height=\"209\" align=\"right\"><\/p>\n<h5>Nursery bed preparation<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Plough the land 2-3 times and level it.<\/li>\n<li>Make 6 m x 2m bed and lift up to 15 cm above ground level.<\/li>\n<li>Apply 6 cft FYM and sand to each bed, mix thoroughly with the soil and level it.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the bed as such for 2 weeks.<\/li>\n<li>Apply 0.1% Indofil-M45 and Forat BHC solution @ 20 l\/ha 2 days before sowing and mix with the soil to avoid pest attack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Seed collection<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li> Cover the Kesseru fruit on the plant with nylon net.<\/li>\n<li> Collect the ripe fruit during February-March.<\/li>\n<li> Store the fruit in shade for 1-2 days.<\/li>\n<li> Soak the fruits overnight in water.<\/li>\n<li> Rub the fruits with a gunny cloth.<\/li>\n<li> Put the fruit in water and select only the sunken ones for sowing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Seed sowing<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Sow 800 seeds (2 seeds\/pit) in each nursery bed maintaining a spacing of 15 cm (pit to pit) by 20 cm (row to row).<\/li>\n<li>Mulch the seed bed with a thin layer of straw.<\/li>\n<li>Irrigate regularly in the morning and late noon hours during dry season.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a shed over the bed to protect from the direct sun light and hailstorm.<\/li>\n<li>90% Germination can be obtained within 18-25 days.<\/li>\n<li>Displace the mulch after 90% germination.<\/li>\n<li>Displace the mulch after 90% germination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Cultural operation<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Carry out weeding at an interval of 20-30 days till the seedlings attain a height of 20-25 cm.<\/li>\n<li>Spray 0.05% Rogor along with 0.1 % Indofil-M45 at an interval of 15-20 days to prevent leaf diseases and pests.<\/li>\n<li>Allow the seedlings to cover to a height of 4 feet and keep one seedling per pit.<\/li>\n<li>Spray 10% urea solution 3 times at an interval of 15 days for vigorous growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Plantation in the main field<\/h5>\n<p> Land selection: Select high and sloppy land, avoid water logging.<br \/>\n  Season: August- September.<br \/>\n Land preparation: Plough the land to a depth of 20-25 cm and level it.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" align=\"right\" alt=\"Silks\" src=\"https:\/\/silks.csb.gov.in\/ballia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2014\/03\/mcpt9.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"263\"><\/p>\n<h5>Pit digging<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li> Make 30cm x 30cm x 30cm pit at 2m x 2m spacing.<\/li>\n<li> Apply a mixture of 1g Indofil-M45 with 3-4 kg well decomposed FYM per pit and mix thoroughly with the soil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><b>Transplantation: <\/b> Transplant 25-35 cm healthy seedling to each pit in a rainy day.<\/p>\n<h5>Crop management practices<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Carry out hoeing and weeding @ 3-4 times a year.<\/li>\n<li>Apply FYM @ 10 MT\/ha (0.5 cft\/plant) once in a year before monsoon.<\/li>\n<li>Apply 125:75:25 kg NPK\/ha\/year in two split doses (before and after monsoon) after one year of plantation.<\/li>\n<li>Apply 1g Indofil-M45 along with NPK for controlling termite attack and fungal diseases.<\/li>\n<li>Prune the plants at a height of 1.75 m to keep the plants at a manageable height.<\/li>\n<li>Leaves can be harvested after 2 years of plantation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h5>Source:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>1.
