Pink mealy bug (Tukra)

  • Collect the infested portion (along with the pest) in a polythene bag and destroy by burning.
  • Spray 0.2% of DDVP (@ 2.63ml/litre water 12 to 15 days after pruning. Safe period: 15 days.
  • Release predatory lady bird beetles Scymnus coccivora @ 250 adult beetles/ac.

Leaf roller

  • Spray 0.076% of DDVP (@ 1 ml/lit water 12-15 days after pruning.

Safe period: 15 days.

  • Release egg parasitoids Trichogramma chilonis   @ 4Tricho cards/acre after 3 days of chemical spray.

Thrips

  • Spray 0.1% of Rogor (@ 3 ml/liter water 12-15 days after pruning.

   Safe period: 20 days

  • Release predatory lady bird beetles Scymnus coccivora @ 250 adult beetles/ac.

Silkworm Diseases

Grasserie

  • Conduct thorough disinfection of rearing house, surroundings and appliances with recommended disinfectant solution.
  • Conduct an optional disinfection with 0.3% slaked lime solution when high incidence of disease noticed in the previous crop.
  • Practice personal and rearing hygiene.
  • Maintain optimum temperature and humidity in the rearing house.
  • Do not feed tender leaves in late instars, feed quality mulberry leaf and avoid overcrowding.
  • Apply bed disinfectant, Ankush or Vijetha as per schedule.

Muscardine

  • Conduct thorough disinfection of rearing house, surroundings and appliances with recommended disinfectant solution.
  • Practice personal and rearing hygiene.
  • Avoid low temperature and high humidity in the rearing house. If required use heater/stove to raise the temperature.
  • Regulate bed humidity during the rainy season by dusting slaked lime powder during moult.
